Hoopers Volkswagen is a family-owned business that was established in 1933. For 89 years the dealership has been a part of the greater Durban community and it has enjoyed much success thanks to the people of Durban. The Hoopers’ family values and a desire to support worthwhile community initiatives led Dave Hooper to offer support to Sbu Myeni, founder of the Imbeleko Foundation. Her passionate work with the children of the Valley of a Thousand Hills is truly inspiring. Through the Foundation’s after school educational support programs, a number of the Valley’s children will be empowered and become successful South Africa citizens.
Hoopers wants to help drive the change that is needed in this country. Improved educational outcomes is one of these changes and, through the Imbeleko Foundation, future generations will be given the tools to succeed.
Hoopers proudly sponsored a Volkswagen Caddy to the Imbeleko Foundation on Thursday, 4 August 2022. This vehicle will be used to transport the kids to extramural activities at partner schools in the upper highway area. Participation in cultural and sporting activities is an important part of a child's learning and development. The excitement and joy shown by the kids that unveiled the VW Caddy and realized that, not only had it been branded, but branded with images of them, warmed the hearts of all those attending the event.
It was an intimate handover in the valley of a “1000 dreams”. The event was made extra special when the kids danced and sang for the attendees and all participants were able to enjoy a meal together. Hoopers looks forward to contributing towards the success of the Imbeleko Foundation and its Academy and the children that pass through its doors.
Through Sbu Myeni’s Imbeleko Foundation and the Academy, the sky is the limit for this cohort of lucky children.
